Embassy letter for German citizens

You can be a German citizen but have a permanent home in Panama. Therefore, you cannot go to your home of residence.

What is stupid or difficult?

why do you compare a permanent home with tourist like him ?? he is not illegal and he still live in German. The problem is , that the embassy make stupid logic by saying that "you must pay because you are now in a country , where people are not allowed to be in". How the hell you could be there already if people are not allowed to be in ???

  • It will be in English. However remember you need an appointment to go inside the Embassy even as a German citizen. You can't just roll up there and demand to go to the counter.   What's real

  • I got an appointment already. They needed 5 days for giving an answer and now thanks to them the time is so close. I live in Isaan, for me it’s over 500km to Bangkok, which is the nearest Embassy. Can

  • What is so hard to understand. You live normally in a country that doesn't allow you to return at the moment and so you are trapped in Thailand.

If anyone can get the exact wording of the embassy letter, I'm very curious. Probably not many have or will manage to get it bc of the hurdles they have put in place. But you never know.

Very important for all Germans with embassy letter. I was denied today in Khon Kaen with the german letter because it does not state “covid 19”.

They didn’t want to do anything for me so I had no choice and called the embassy (phone number for the extension letters). On the phone there is a thai woman who speaks perfect german. I explained her my situation and she talked with the immigration head officer, he just explained her he cannot do because there is no “covid 19” in the letter and i had extension for my single non-o (dependence child) visa already. And then she talked like she cannot do anything now. I couldn’t stay calm anymore and told her that I want to call with the ambassador then. She put me on hold, told him the situation and connected me with him. He was very helpful and told her what to say to the immigration officer. After the immigration officer finished calling with her he was so quiet and very friendly to me, i asked him “can do now?” and he said “yes can”. So i got my extension after that. If anybody have the same problem, call the embassy straight. Big thanks to the ambassador. I would like to know to much what they told the immigration officer.

For anybody who want to know why I needed the extension: I am on single non o dependent for my child. I am not married to the mother. She is my legal daughter from german law, but not from thai law yet. I was advised here in the forum that I have to go to a lawyer to make her legal but this information is false. You can translate the german document “Vaterschaftsanerkennung”, then bring it to the Thai MFA and to embassy again for stamps. After that the Amphoe will give you the thai document. The Amphoe told us like that, we asked 3 times if we really don’t need a lawyer because our daughter is only 2 years old and she said no no, if you have this translation we can do for you but you need to have the stamps from the thai MFA.

My translation is ready soon, so hopefully my non o 1 year extension will work next month after the 30 days embassy letter extension.

Glueckwunsch! Happy it worked out for you in the end, and glad to hear the ambassador actually helping some people. But how much stress...

In my case they completely failed (you can see my summary of their incompetence in a comment under his letter video on FB).

BTW, how did you even get the letter/Konsularbescheinigung, and would you mind posting the exact wording?

Danke und viel Erfolg in nem Monat!

unbelievable hoops to jump, but yeah great that 1 person was able to clear the hurdle with a smart call ???? wonder how hard it would be for the germans to copy paste the american letter? ????

Just made an account to let you know about the text of the Embassy letter.

It literally says:

The German Embassy supports the request for an extension of visa for the German national

Mr. XXXXX

Passport No.: XXX

According to his own statement the national is currently living in Thailand on a Non-Immigrant B Visa and has to extend his stay beyond the 26th September 2020 due to the current special circumstances.

Your kind consideration of the request would be highly appreciated.

The terminology "currently living in Thailand" might be problematic, they should have chosen a different wording.

The letter also doesn't mention Covid in any way. Special Circumstances?
