actually you don't need to be a millionaire to fly in by PJ. Rent a PJ from Dubai to Bangkok with 10-12 other travelers and it would be around 4000 USD /person. Still a lot of money and it's surely not worth for me, but it depends all on the circumstances.

Political mess in the making.  Hundreds of quality low risk long term visitors wishing to enter are blocked.  Yet, the   Thai administration make a public spectacle out of 7 "wealthy" people from China.  it won't go over well with poor Thais and not with the hundreds of millions of Chinese who are not allowed to travel.
