Chinese millionaires in private jet will be first tourists allowed in under STV

Sanook reported that a group of seven Chinese millionaires will be the first group of foreign tourists allowed back into Thailand now that the STV special visa has essentially been approved.

The rich Chinese will be on a private jet possibly as early as tomorrow.

The media said they had approached the foreign ministry and the TAT directly regarding the trip.

This is a separate flight to one already announced that will carry around 120-150 Chinese on a charter trip from Gwangzhou direct to Phuket next month, notes Thaivisa.

In a story repeating many of the special tourist visa developments Sanook quoted tourism minister Pipat Ratchakitprkarn and TAT governor Yutthasak Suphasorn as saying it was all systems go to start opening up the country to foreign tourism.

Just foreign ministry approval is now needed.

The media said that the private jet trip was not a long stay plan but a short visit.

This is in contrast to the original billing of the visa as a long stay option, notes Thaivisa.

You still don't understand that laws and rules don't apply to rich people. Maybe this video will illustrate it to you:

You can bet that these Chinese guys are personal friends of the government, invited to invest in the remains of the industy which was intenionally ruined by the government. This is part of Chinas road and belt initiative and this is how the generals become unusual rich. And you can bet that these Chinese neither have to do the 14 days quarantine, nor do they have to wear the wristbands to track them.

Yes, agree. But obviously the Thai government is bought by the Chinese. That's why all this happens now.

The Chinese billionaires who are the first to enter the group are expected to be businessmen and travel coordinators and apply for the special visa directly through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Oh so working without work permit? Gotcha

I trust they'll have all the necessary doc's in order to gain entry

US$100K covid insurance cover.

COE permit

Fit to fly certificate

Testing clearance from originating destination

STV approval stamp in valid passport

Then they will be processed at the IO entry facility where :

They will be fitted with a gps tracker wristband

They will be escorted to the appointed ASQ hotel for 14 days quarantine.

somehow, i'm skeptical that they'll have any of this .....  lol

The only reason I could think of for a Chinese millionaire to fly into Thailand would be to research for a set-up for takeover of properties.

It's a heist.

No quarantine then?

The super rich are super special, and worshipped by the hapless army here. Super people must be immune to Covid. Why restrict them? They must be coddled.

They keep saying they want rich tourists. What sacrifices are the ministers willing to make, to get them? Rich tourists like to spend money when they travel. And they cannot do that here, as they do not like getting taken for a ride. Most wealthy people are smart with their money. Thailand could be making a fortune on a 25% luxury tax. Instead of the 100% or more, which discourages most people from buying. How many people do you see in the luxury stores here? They are almost always completely empty. Inane. Beyond inane.

So, even without restrictions, Thailand will not attract more than a few hundred very rich tourists a year.

Most who come, once the nation opens again, will be the lower end, to lower middle income folks. Great if you are running a swap meet. Not a tourism industry.
