rooster59
Police and immigration check credentials of foreign teachers at two more Sarasas schools Image: Thai Rath The fallout from the alleged abuse of children at Sarasas schools continued yesterday. The police chief of the Bang Bua Thong station Pol Col Siraphop Anusiri along with Nonthaburi immigration and labor department officials went to Sarasas Witaed Bang Bua Thong school. The credentials of 66 foreign teachers and one other were found to all be in order. Pol Col Siraphop said that teachers' licences and work permits were all fine. Director Suphawadee Wilaisorn gave assistance to the officers checking the paperwork. She also told Thai Rath that she had spoken to parents about CCTV provision at the school and was acting according to their wishes. The police and immigraion then moved onto another Sarasas school called Sai Noi on the Bang Kruay to Sai Noi Road. There the work permits of 14 foreigners were in order though further checking of teacher licences was in progress. These measures follow allegations of child abuse by a Thai kindergarten teacher, two Thai nannies and an illegal Filipino at a Sarasas Witaed Ratchaphreuk School and a further allegation at one of their branches in Lat Krabang against a western kindergarten teacher. Media Thai Enquirer has also said that other allegations have been made recently against many of the group's several dozen establishments, notes Thaivisa. Parents across the Sarasas group have been demanding transparency and action especially in CCTV provision in classes following the damning release of in-class footage that has led to police charges. How about checking all the "Thai nannies" or Thai kindergarten teachers and their "credentials" as well, instead of just charging straight for the foreigners? You can see it how the slight-of-hand and misdirection is already covering it all up and trying to shift the blame elsewhere. The errant Filipino (and thus foreigners) is just low hanging fruit and a convenience punch bag to deflect flak away from the Thais caught up in it.
