I'm sure these guys just say anything just to stop themselves getting bored. Meanwhile they do nothing for the long stayers already here and even less for those wanting to come back to their families etc.

Holiday from home if you can

Charter flight, 555. ????

Ah well I'll be there from the 15th October as I have the correct qualifications to do so. Looking forward to seeing the empty airport, limo to hotel. Have plenty things to do or will have when I arrive.

If you're so rich, why can't you do the exact same things at home?

Why do you have to come to inexpensive Thailand? ????

Those interested are welcome to contact a Thai embassy in their respective area to inquire about applying for the Special Tourist Visa (STV).

I would rather shove toothpicks under my fingernails.

Nope. It's called "Thai-style piloting". You know...

swerving left,

swerving right,

making a u-turn,

accelerate,

slow down,

make another u-turn,

and then a bit more vigorous swerving for good measure...

...until nobody is sure anymore what is actually going on.

All inbound passengers will be screened upon arrival and transported to each individual’s chosen hotel for the required 14-day quarantine. Prior to their release, their last COVID-19 test will be conducted to ensure no virus leakage.

What about staff who work at said hotels?

I'm waiting for the flip.

How about a caption competition. What's he saying or thinking?

It's dead in the water.

Not sure what planet these officials are on.

But Switzerland is the only country that can access the STV.

Not even on the China sites.

Overpriced and under subscribed. RIP...

Meh, more Thai brilliance. 10 points for a complete waste of time. Better to just shut the entire country down for another year and then open it up when there is nothing left worth going to.

Just had a Thai customer want to cancel their booking because they heard that Thailand is opening up the country to foreigners

I'll laugh when the first report of these tourists out and about, or "ordering in" comes.

I give it 3 days after arrival.  ????

Who would want to go on a holiday and spend the first 14 days in a hotel quarantine?

Us  TV members are extremely fortunate to be blessed with daily programming such as this.  One day its the 3 stooges,  next Laurel and Hardy , then Keystone Kops,  Deroadrunner,  and the Marxist Brothers.    Kindly provided by the usual news sources.

I give a little Groucho comment once in a while...... usually axed by the monitor lizards who deem it

unfit for the forum.   Rule number 245.3    Any comment getting more than 7 laughs   whooooosh,

swept away ..............  Humor, by definition,  is "off topic" .

Let the countdown begin ....

Before anyone gets too excited, the grand arrival of the first batch of STV Chinese on Thursday has now been canceled and a new committee, headed by General Natthaphon Nakphanic, will be formed on Friday to figure out some way to relief tourists of their money without actually letting the filthy bastards into the country.

"Confusion reigns" All things normal in the Thai government then.

What can one say? Desperation is setting in. Heads are going to roll. Just returned from Samui. Utter devastation. 90% of the businesses on the beach road were closed, and hundreds of hotels are closed and for sale, at half price. Trillions of baht are going to be lost here. Annually. Tourism will NEVER recover. Not in our lifetimes. Too much timidity. Too much cowardice. Too little juice and creativity. Such small minds.

Expect 10,000 tourists in the next 6-8 months. And perhaps one million next year, if they open entirely. This administration could be described as both saboteurs of an industry and sadists towards their people.
