lots of Thai tourists would be visiting the province for the annual festival and they would be put off by foreigners coming.

This.

Why would anybody want to come, if they would not feel welcome.

Aside all the other silly requirements, quarantine and cost.

Truth is that it is too early for thailand to open.

many countries in europe are experiencing a second wave after opening up too

quick too fast.

Some cities and even whole countries are under total lockdown as a result.

some experts believe that within 6 months it will all be over, thanks to herd immunity.

There is no herd immunity that lasts more than 3-6 months, as with seasonal flu. 12 months at best.

Second wave because they opened too fast is an illusion. There will be a third, fourth, fifth, it will be a never ending story.

Europe was right in opening early and minimising economic damage. Other countries will open up late, probably on the fifth wave or similar, and inflict more economic damage then they should.

In a weeks time, expect that STV tourists will be delayed until after loy kratong, so as to not to upset festival goers....

Next excuse - Thanksgiving? Xmas? New year? Maybe get a plane load by sometime in 2021!
