Yes in theory at least you can. You need to contact the Thai Embassy in Wellington because it is a convoluted process and the requirements can vary depending on which country you are coming from. Only they can give you a definitive answer about the requirements for issuing the CoE and also which visa type they might issue.

There is a THAI Airways repatriation flight departing Auckland on the 22nd October. It may be quite a long time before there is another one.

Have you considered applying for a Thai passport? With one Thai parent you are entitled to that but again you need to ask the Embassy what the process is to have it issued.

If you enter Thailand with a Thai passport you won't need the USD100k insurance, the Covid-19 free medical certificate and though you still need to do 2 weeks quarantine, you don't have to pay for that.. Obviously a Thai passport holder doesn't require a visa.

If you have proof you are Thai from birth you could enter as a Thai national.

You would need to apply for a single entry non-o visa that is for Thais that don't have a Thai passport. Then after entering the country you could apply for a one year extension as a returning Thai national.

A single entry non-o visa would also be needed if you were to enter for being the child of a Thai.

If your father is Thai you are Thai. If your mother is Thai you have Thai family in Thailand and have a better chance of getting over the difficult rules of coming to Thailand. Your birth certificate will prove that your mother is Thai your chances will improve if your birth was in Thailand as the birth certificate won't need translated.

If mothers Thai go to Wellington and get your Thai passport you need to have your birth certificate, does not matter if your born in NZ.

Get a certified translation of birth certificate. If your father is Thai and mother falang it is harder, the embassy told me this when I got my sons passport. You can then enter Thailand without insurance and get free quarantine, you can reenter NZ on a NZ passport but if the border is still restricted you will have to pay for quarantine as you left voluntarily.

Depending on how old you are you could be required to do military service.

Maybe Ubon Joe's ideas are best for you.

Better to take mother with you and all her documentation, your father's name should be on your birth certificate and if you can take certified copies of his I'd.

When I got my sons passport they issued it within one hour and were extremely helpful, I just sat back and mom and my son did it all, in fact they fussed over my son, mind you he was little boy then.
