Orchids Live, Beautiful

Featured Replies

Hi,

Where in Bangkok can I buy reasonably priced orchids?

1) Hopefully in a convenient accessible location in Bangkok.

(I know we can get great orchids if we drive far out into the countryside. But that's not possible for me at this time.)

2) Preferably with some sort of quarantine (?) papers to show customs in my destination country?

cheers!

There is a great market in Bangkok by the name of Chatuchak.

The best way to get here is on the Skytrain, Mo Chit station is only about five minutes walk away from the market. Finding your way from the station is easy - just follow the large crowd of people that will also be heading to/from there.

Hi,

I found some firms that trade in orchids in the Bangkok area:

address is at the bottom of the page

and this one with farms in Nakorn Pathom

Maybe they would sell you some orchids at their farms. As far as I know you won't get a certificate of origin or phytosanitarian documents for orchids you buy at markets. I had the same problem when in Malaysia. But the trader told me to just take a flask of tissue cultured seedlings. They have grown beautifully.
