Am I the only one in CM that noticed at times a great deal of workmen noise, such as drills etc.. but look around and they are no where to be seen?

At the moment im sitting in my apartment with some very noisy construction work going on..but no matter where i look outside, i cant source it.

Does Chiang Mai have a strange breed of invisible workforce? In the UK i was more used to seeing invisible workmen as in just not turning up for the job or very visible in the form of builders bum (thank you Thailand for the lack of the latter XD ).
