mrblook
I have a car already and would like to change to a "special" number. How do I go about this? Can you have 3 or 4 numbers in the plate? Can you choose the letters also? Once I have this new number on my car can I then change this number to a new car later when I upgrade? Thanks
mark5335
There are a few agents that specialise in the car number plate sector. They generally advertise their stock on their Instagram accounts, and there's also some local auto magazines that include lists of plate numbers for sale. You should look up JarernTabien and ChokdeeTabien who both have extensive lists of stock for sale.

a10ams
Tim Brookes at Siam Motorworld got me one about twelve years ago for a car that was already registered. I ended up letting it go with the car a few years later. However, when I bought a new car in Feb 2013 I asked the dealer for my four numbers again. They said I had to wait until it became available. I drove around on red plates until early December when they called me to go in and get the plates changed. No extra cost.
KhunBENQ
They have too much time on their hands. Instead of doing a basic reform of the number plate chaos they add to it. x different colors, reserved letter combinations (taxi, tuktuk...), Thai script only except trucks and vans (digits only). Province number coded on trucks but written in unreadably small script on the bottom at car plates... Red plates while have to wait for final plates, driving without plates: 200 Baht, have a good trip. Military completely separate registration (hidden from police/DLT), even digits in Thai scripts. etc.pp. Can't think of a European country with such "colorful diversity". What will be the escape route for the soon to run out Bangkok numbers: after adding a digit before the two letters they now have reached "9". What comes next?
