Residents of northern, central provinces warned of heavy rains, flash floods

BANGKOK: -- Residents of several northern and central provinces were warned to brace themselves against heavy rains and flash floods as a depression storm is moving toward Tak province.

The Meteorological Department issued a press statement Thursday saying the depression with the speed of 55 kilometres per hour at its centre was about 600 kms southwest of Tak.

The storm was moving at the speed of 10 kms per hour and was expected to hit the North soon, the department said.

The storm's influence would cause rain falls in most central and northern provinces.

Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Tak, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi will see heavy rainfalls because of the storm's influence, the department warned.
