If the route network wasn´t so limited, I would be really tempted by such an "unlimited travel for 1 year" deal. Still, a good deal for regular travellers with Bangkok Airways, I think. Will be interesting to see, how many cards they´ll be able to sell.

Pretty sure not an issue ... for domestic flights (which are the only routes they are operating as far as I'm aware).

A flight BKK to Chiang Mai with Bangkok Airways is 1350 baht (with 20kgs luggage)

A flight BKK to Samui with Bangkok Airways is 2460 baht (with 20kgs luggage)

 

On average one would need to take approximately 50 one way flights to break even. 

Or fly to BKK to Samui and back (return) 20 times in 2021.

Further to the comments by Richard Smith, this prepayment card is only valid for the base fare and does not include ancillaries, add-ons, airport charges, taxes and regulatory fees, or other applicable charges, which are payable by the passenger at the time of booking.

 

Doesn't seem very good value at all.

Depends on the numbers of flight you’d be taking. But yes, it would require lots and lots of flights even assuming higher fares over the coming year compared to the current prices. Having said that, when looking at airport fees, these seem “relatively” low.

 

Anyways, an offer is an offer and it’s up to everyone to make a financial assessment of its benefits (and risks) before making the purchase. Personally, I cannot see myself flying to the few domestic airports in their network on a weekly basis, so I will not be one of the card‘s buyers.

Does not have to be good value, there are plenty of Hi-So’s who would buy the card just to flash the card around to their friends

You’ve fallen foul of making the same mistake some Thai’s makes when assuming foreigners are wealthy and stupid, you’ve assumed the hi-so’s are stupid and have more money than sense....

 

Some may - but really, the financial flaws in this card are so transparent only an idiot or and extremely frequent domestic traveller would be interested. I don’t know any wealthy hi-so Thai (or foreigner, even on this forum) so stupid.

If you fly Bkk to samui at least twice a month return then it’s pretty good deal . Quite a few fly to Bkk on Monday for work in Bkk and return on Friday from samui so it’s a winner for them .

Maybe he did, but thought you might not...

Unless you commute from Ko Samui or Trat (where flights are exceptionally expensive due to Bangkok Airways' monopoly) to Bangkok weekly, this doesn't make sense - I cannot imagine anyone flying enough to break even.

And had he given it more than three minutes of thought, and had the airline developed the kind of humility one might expect from this dramatic downturn of their fortunes, he would have priced it at 30,000, or 40,000 baht. Little loss to the airline with so many empty seats per flight, looks better as more seats are full, and a win, win all the way around. Common sense and a fair deal for all? What is that?

Don't forget there was a case against a not unrelated business for having sold something and then deciding to cancel and issue a refund. History has a habit of repeating itself..
