TRANG (NNT) - The Finance Minister visited community enterprises in Trang province this weekend, ahead of the mobile cabinet meeting which is scheduled to take place in Phuket on Tuesday.

Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith observed the management of Yan Ta Khao Agricultural Cooperative that received the national excellence cooperatives award in 2017, and was highly praised for its good governance. The cooperative began with a budget of 70 million baht, allocated by the Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives. Its performance has been excellent with disciplined members and superb liquidity. The minister recommended the cooperative adopt banking technologies quickly to support the expansion of businesses, and keep pace with the fast-moving world.

Yan Ta Khao Agricultural Cooperative has eight branches, covering 18 businesses that include buying agricultural products from farmers, processing the products to add value, offering loan and deposit services with good interest rates, local shops with delivery services, and gas stations. Now the cooperative has 5,700 members, with an operating capital of 1.4 billion baht (45 million USD), and sharing 70 percent of its profits with its members every year.

The Finance Minister then visited Na Muen Si Weaving Community in Na Yong District of Trang Province. The products help to generate income for the community enterprise. The special characteristics of Na Muen Si weaving lie in the fabric, patterns and colors. There are more than 30 different designs, and unique colors.

The Na Muen Si woven cloth is considered a legacy of local wisdom that has been passed down from generation to generation. It is the pride of Trang Province, a famous emblem which was selected as a 5-star OTOP product of Thailand (One Tambon One Product Scheme).
