i'm from germany (29) and had so far 3 visas on arrival (30 days) for thailand.

my first entry was on 7 of january this year.

i know i can't get another visa on arrival before 7. of july.

But i couldn't figgure out so far if it's possible for me to buy a visa for thailand in vietian LAOS for reentering thailand.

some people told me its possible and i can reenter straight away, other folks say i have to stay at least 30 days out of thailand.....

incase its not possible to get back to thailand, is there some transit visa or whatever for catching my flight from bangkok to germany late june?

thanx so much for answering

You should be able to obtain a normal 60 day entry tourist visa from either Vientiane or Savannakhet in Laos and return to Thailand. There is no such rule that you would have to leave for 30 days.

Air tickets have not been required for tourist visas in Laos or Malaysia in the past but the requirements could change at any time so it would be best to contact the Consulate involved immediately prior to application, or allow time to purchase if required.

Hello,

Thank for this information. I am in the same case and my last visa expires on may 13th.

Can you tell me which documents are necessary for a visa application.

Moreover, do you have the address of the Thai ambassy in Ventiane?? How long does it take usually...it is important to know to book the flight!!

Thanks a lot

Thanks a lot for this.

One more question, do I have to fill in the form at the ambassy directly, or can i upload it before?

For information, the office seems to be closed for Official holiday on may 7th and may 10th.

I really hope it is going to work.

If anyone is in Ventiane between may 7th and may 10th, let me know, maybe we can meet!!!

bye bye

I don't know of any Consulate that allows uploads and do not believe they even have a download visa application form so you will most likely have to fill out a copy you obtain there.

Hello,

Me again....It is almost harassment, loool.

I have read about Savannaket option for visa run. I reckon that Ventiane is more suitable, what do you think?

As I come from Chiang Mai, i think i will catch the evening flight on monday 7th, go to the ambassy as early as possible the day before, and leave on the evening on may 9th or may, 10th. Do you think it is enough time? The problem is the ambassy is closed on may, 10. I will call to check but it is what it is said on the website.

Cheers

I assume you mean the day after, Tuesday the 8th apply and pick up on the afternoon of the 9th. That should work. And the 10th is a notional holiday in Thailand so Thai Consulate will observe it.

And yes, agree coming from Chiang Mai, Vientiane is your best choice.

Hi,

I will go tomorrow night by bus. CNX-Udon Thani, and Udon Thani - Nong Khai and to Vientiane.

I read on another website that they are asking for a return ticket from Thailand to my country? Have you heard about that??

Thank you.

As far as we know the only posts asking for tickets are those from Cambodia and the ticket can be to anywhere outside of Thailand and only required for 30 day visa exempt entry.

Edit: If you are talking about the Embassy for visa issue we have not seen any reports of that in Vientiane either

As Lopburi3 said, 2 passport photos, a copy of your passport page that has your photo, and a fee of bht1000. The application cannot be downloaded. It can be obtained at the embassy in Vientiane and filled in on the sport, 10 mins top.

You can be at the embassy in morning of 8 May (Tues) to submit form, and collect it the next day 9 May (Wed) in the afternoon.

For now, Vientianne has not yet asked for onward air-ticket, but it would be safer for you to have one, but not necessary to be back to your home country. The onward air-ticket can be destined for any cities outside of Thailand, example..... Penang, KL, Singapore etc.

My experience whit the new visa rule, on the 29 Oct 2006 is the first in stamp 27 Nov 2006 I must go out. 27 Nov 2006 the second in stamp 26 Dec 2006 I must go out.

26 Dec 2006 the third in stamp 24 Jan 2007 I must go out off Thailand but I wend on the 23 Jan 2007 to Singapore to make a tourist visa single entry. I came back to Thailand on 25 Jan 2007 and I must go out on the 25 Mart 2007 but I wend out on the 26 Mart 2007 and I must go out on 24 April 2007. On the 24 April 2007 I wend to Sadou wend to Malaysia and wanted back to Thailand that was not possible 29 April was oke so they gif to me a 5 days on the 29 April 2007 I wend to Padang Besar and have paid there 3000Bath. I think they make a joke about the counting they speak about 180 days but after they speak about 6 Months. I want pay tax if I can stay in an easy way but not this SH**

Udate:

Visa applications at the Thai embassy in Vientianne must be lodged berfore 12 noon, and cannot be collected until 1 pm (1300 hrs) the following day. It is extremely important to get the the embassy early - if it's a busy day and there is a long queue they will slam the door in your face at noon and tell you to come back tomorrow, it happened to me last year.

This means that the Thai embassy is your first stop when you get over the border, it's in the suburbs. When you'ver handed you application in, share a tuk-tuk with someone on the same mission to go into town to get sorted out with a hotel or guesthouse for the night.

Get back to he embassy early the next day for the 1 pm collection, remembering that all the people who were in the previous day's queue will also be doing the same thing. Share a tuk-tuk again with someone to returne to the border crossing.

Hello everybody

Thanks a lot for all your advices!!

I am back Laos and get my visa without any problem

It was quite a long trip but I did it!!

I caught the bus in Chiang mai at 7.00 pm to arrive in Udon Thani at 7.30 am,

catch another bus from Udon to Nong Khai,

Take a tuk tuk with a Kiwi family: 30 bahts

pass thai immigration

Take the bus to Lao Immigration: 10 bahts

Fill in the form to get a Lao Visa: 1300 bahts for French People

take a taxi (still share with the Kiwi family) to the thai ambassy (actually, it is the Consular section): 150 bahts for my boyfriend and I

I was really late and thought i would never get my visa next day...

Many people were waiting outside under a kind of improvised tent ,lool, it was around 11.20 am

After 15 minutes, the Thai Embassy employees told us they had enough application form for today, but take our documents (just need 1 copy of the passport, 2 ID pictures and Application form) and gave us a number to come back next morning.

So, i ame back next morning at the openning:8.30am.

People with numbers passed first , just waited 10 minutes.

I was asked to go inside the ambassy and wait thay call me at the counter to pay the 1000 bahts for the visa. It just took around 10 minutes. I will get my visa the same day in the afternoon after 15.00.

At that time,it was only 9.15 am. Everything was really quick. I can say i am pretty impressed by the efficiency of the Thai Ambassy compared to any administrative organisation in Paris!!!!

I came back in the afternoon at 14.30 and get my visa in approximately 2 and a half minutes!!!!!!!

NOW I AM HAPPY!!!

But,i am still looking for a jb in Chiang MAi!! I have a master in Marketing, but can do everything!! If anyone has good tips!! Let me knoowwwwwww
