Drugs and counterfeit product to be destroyed

The Cambodia Counter Counterfeit Committee (CCCC) will destroy more than 500 tonnes of illegal drugs and counterfeit products at the Dangkor landfill after seizing products from a nationwide crackdown this year. The counterfeit products to be destroyed this morning include nearly eight  tonnes of illegal drugs and 533 tonnes of counterfeit products, according to a CCCC statement yesterday.

 

The event will be presided over by Minister of Justice Keut Rith as well as leaders and representatives of relevant ministries and institutions. Over the past nine months, the CCCC has seized nearly 600 tonnes of illegal drugs, medical and counterfeit products during nationwide crackdowns according to a report in October.

 

Lieutenant General Tan Sok Vichea, director of the CCCC Secretariat, previously said that the authorities have worked on 134 cases leading to the seizure of 594.65 tonnes of counterfeit products. Among the seizures,  were 38 cases of fake medical products, including 12 related to COVID-19, 35 cases of food and beverage products, 29 cases of cosmetic products, 20 cases of consumer products, 20 cases of pharmaceutical products and 19 cases of tobacco products.
