webfact
Pattaya: Tourist police chief says we're here to help Picture: Pattaya Update News Pattaya's tourist police chief has told the Thai media that he and his men are ready, willing and able to help foreign tourists stranded in Thailand and members of the public just as they always have been. Pol Lt-Col Somboon Eua-samanmaitree said his branch of the force continued to liaise with all relevant authorities in ensuring the safety of all concerned at tourist sites especially on weekends and holidays. He conceded that it may not be all that busy but tourists were still the priority. In addition he has been encouraging good PR informing people about any changes - such as closing times - due to the pandemic. Everyone could call the 155 hotline to ask for help and that includes the many tourists still stranded in the area due to the pandemic. Pattaya Update News put this figure at "1,6000" so it's anyone guess what that means, notes Thaivisa. Pol-Col Somboon said that the highest proportion of stranded tourists were Chinese. But contact with the hotline had been almost non-existent. He put this down to what he said was the fact that most stranded "tourists" in Pattaya were retirees or people married to Thais. samsensam
Pattaya's tourist police chief has told the Thai media that he and his men are ready, willing and able to help foreign tourists stranded in Thailand who are these people 'stranded' in thailand? everyone i know who genuinely wanted to leave thailand has left, most fairly straightforwardly. i have a mate (well someone i know) in pattaya, since the end of march he's been claiming he's stranded, despite me forwarding multiple opportunities to purchase a reasonably priced flight out of thailand... Don't bother and find the number of the nearest main police stn if you need help! The most scary time of my life when 5 people jumped out of the trees on an empty narrow road, 11pm on a Sat while we were on our way home from the Wat, on a M/C brandishing machete, steel bars, and tree branches, We were lucky to accelerate away but they managed to hit the bike several times. They also went for two thai guys who came along after us. They did get caught turned out to be Cambodians and were kicked out of Thailand. Thanks to all who helped us, for a few days we had local guys escort us home if we were out in the village. Now I have tears in my eyes.

If you go visit some golf driving ranges you will see them in large numbers there, at least the upper class. I find telling someone " You have no ideal is not really polite. I'm not really interested but do you include American Chinese, Australian Chinese, British Chinese, Thai Chinese with the Singaporean and Taiwanese Chinese. I would say if you referred to a Taiwanese person as Chinese they would be offended and tell you they were Taiwanese and not Chinese. I would be sure he was referring to citizens of the Republic of China.

Thais will say Chinese for all the persons you listed, and, incidentially, we are in Thailand and the statement you said was "crazy" was made by a Thai. And it's actually pretty reasonable to consider any Chinese-speaking person of pure Chinese descent to be a Chinese.

Both of my wife's grand mother's were Chinese but if you told her she is Chinese she would say she is Thai. They may all look the same to you at the golf club but it is pretty easy to pick different asian nationalities. "we are in Thailand and the statement you said was "crazy" was made by a Thai." doesn't seem to make any sense or relevance. He was the head of the Tourist police so of course he was Thai. Are you saying because he was Thai he was of course correct in his assumption? Has he been hanging around the golf club with you. Maybe you should stick to two word comments after all.
