AP Honda, the Thai subsidiary of Japanese automaker Honda Motor, has launched “Green Win by Honda” project, in which 50 Honda PCX electric motorbikes will be used to provide taxi services to Bangkokians.

The project also includes the setting up of 10 battery switching stations, the first of which has been installed in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn hotel.

This project, which has been launched in response to the government’s initiative to promote electric vehicles, will provide motorbike taxi services along the BTS Sukhumvit line.

Passengers will be charged normal fares and the service will run for one year from this month onwards.

If I’m not mistaken...

The Honda PCX Electric has a range of 42km (on a 3 hr charge of 2 batteries) and a top speed of 60kmh.

The battery switching stations are obviously a major necessity - the speed limitation shouldn’t be an issue on Sukhumvit Rd in central Bangkok.

Now... IF only Electric City busses could be utilised and Thailand starts looking as if it is taking its pollution issues seriously.

Yes, the PCX Electric has poor range and zero availability.  I've been trying to get Honda to sell me one for 2 years!  This is just a publicity stunt / delaying tactic until they can get their battery cost down and range up.  The modularity of the packs actually hurts them - a dedicated non-removable pack would allow more space for cells.

"Green Win" is a load of sphericals.... a modern capitalist spin on lets save the world.

ok it runs on electric and thus emits no gasses... but all the resources used to produce the motorcycle including the batteries and charging points all come from depleting the planet, what's green about that?
