Aspara Authority announced the completion of its Angkor Wat garden project yesterday. Residents and tourists have shared their satisfaction with the developments that include gardens, trees, wildflowers and rejuvenated shops and parking lots.

Aspara Authority started the renovation project at the end of 2019, which includes the preparation of a new garden and hospitality area made possible by relocating stalls to avoid clutter and disorderly parking. Sean Sokhak, a tour guide in Angkor area, said that the improvement of the complex is useful for the tourism sector, especially the inclusion of uncommon trees such as Tnung and Beng trees to attract tourists and make them aware of these rare species.

“The development of the garden in front of Angkor Wat is really unique and full of beautiful nature in comparison to before. We would like to request that visitors protect and keep this garden beautiful,” Sokhak said. Nheum Bunthoeun, a resident of Siem Reap province, expressed his excitement after seeing Angkor’s transformation.

Wow...I’ve never been to Angkor Wat (would like to visit someday) but being that it is one of the “Seven wonders of the world” I was really expecting something special....no...spectacular.   Something like Queen Sirikit Botanic Gardens at the least or maybe Butchart Gardens.

Clicking on the link and seeing the photo however, it’s more like....

“Hey! We planted a few trees!”
