You email a tax lawyer with a complex tax issue that you need advice for.

They write back to you explaining in detail the issue and what you need to do.

Great.

Then further down the email is an offer to provide this same advice to you in written format for thousands of dollars.

Does having it on paper hold some kind of future legal benefit or otherwise?

You already got the answer you were looking for and they even confirm with you details of the advice they will be writing so what further purpose does it serve if it is not only to advise you of what to do (which they already did in the email).

Perhaps because they can make that "advice" come true with the tax man, for a fee, of course.  ????
