I wonder if he might mention the 'fourth concept' - being honest.

When the Asean Free Trade Agreement came into force, supposedly eliminating import duty between member countries, the Thai Customs department did just that.

They cancelled import duty on Beer Laos but instantly replaced it with a 'special tax' at exactly the same rate the import duty was.

Free beer for the workers!!! ! !

Well it won't be Beer Laos if our illustrious leader has anything to do with it.

Right........but didn’t he just say that schools here are “too academic” and kids should be learning more about history, loyalty and patriotism? I did a subject at school called “systems and technology” where we learnt about technology and innovation. Don’t remember ever learning about the UK’s hierarchal structure or Queen Elizabeth the second, etc. In fact, I was often left to think for myself which is pretty important when it comes to nurturing innovation.

More wanting to have your cake and eat it from this lot. Buzzwords a plenty.

Firstly, promoting “New Economic Models”

Secondly, exploring the “New Engine of Growth”

Last but not least, building a “New Economic Ecosystem”

Be as nonspecific as possible in order to take credit for anything good that happens from other's hard work and creativity.

What a load of hot air.

Given that his only economic "success" during the recent 6 years was to line the pockets of himself and his cronies, while ruining the Thai economy and leading Thailand into a Chinese debt trap, his comments should be blacklisted by the other ASEAN leaders. But okay, most of them play the same game for their Chinese paymasters.

ASEAN is a toothless Tiger  & will always remain that way as long as China buys the votes of

developing countries.

There is no "free trade" as countries of the alliance all still want their duty.

Being in the import/export business it is a fact

TCP!!

He is just a junta leader mincing around spouting meaningless buzz words, in a vain attempt to persuade his peers at the ASEAN summit that he is a (democratically elected) elder statesman with an important role to play in regional matters.

They know, however they have come to be in power, what he is, and who pulls his strings. They fully expect that sooner or later he will be in their airspace, in an unscheduled flight, looking for somewhere to land, having made it to the airport by the skin of his teeth, before either a mob of protesters or the tanks of the next coup.
