Hello TV friends, I am planning my return to thailand hopefully by the end of year. My business struggles further every day I am not there. Previously I was on ED visa before returning to USA during Covid. Now I must go through the troubles of getting my permit stateside. Is my best course of action to file lost passport and get a new one? Put passport in washer and return as damaged to get a new one? If I return it to state department as is I believe they’ll transfer over my ED visa, correct?

While i’m here and may have a helpful reader’s attention, please recommend speedy passport agents. I have read a bit on state department’s website about applying for an expedited passport in non-life/death emergencies. Could I get away with an invitation letter from one of our managers demanding need for company director to return to Thailand?

Peace and love.

No.  US can not transfer a Thai visa and Thailand would not either.

Can I apply for WP with current ED visa passport or better to get new one? If i’m forced to get new one is it quicker to get new one or replacement?

A non-ed visa only allows a 90 day entry or were you on an extension of stay based upon attending school. Is the extension still valid and you have re-entry permit for it.

Since you would be doing WP3 work permit application it should not be a problem since you would have to a apply for a non-b visa to enter the country that would override your existing extension.

At immigration I am sure. Embassies cannot do it.

The US Consular Officer has no authority to do any such thing.  And Thailand Immigration will not do it either.  What Thailand can do is transfer the information from original used visa extensions of stay into the new passport at immigration.  But if you have a multi entry visa in your old passport you will have to show that visa/passport along with the new passport to use it.  The visa is not transferred.
