The Governor of Kamphaeng Phet Province has ordered the immediate transfer of a Volunteer Defence Corps (VDC) member from Khanu Woralaksaburi district following an incident at a karaoke bar involving aggressive and inappropriate behaviour.

The incident, widely circulated on social media along with video footage, showed the VDC member displaying threatening conduct and abusing his official position to intimidate karaoke bar staff. The behaviour has sparked public concern and damaged the reputation of local security personnel.

Governor Chatip Rujanaseri, who oversees the provincial Volunteer Defence Corps command, has mandated that the individual report to the provincial VDC headquarters within 24 hours from 8 August. In addition, a formal investigation committee has been appointed to examine the facts and impose disciplinary action in accordance with the Volunteer Defence Corps disciplinary act.

The governor stressed that the authorities will not tolerate misconduct or ethical breaches by personnel responsible for security and public service, emphasising the importance of upholding the unit’s standards and integrity.

Provincial officials have also been instructed to enhance supervision and reinforce proper conduct guidelines for all state officers under their jurisdiction.

The VDC member involved has since contacted the karaoke bar owner to apologise, admitting that his actions were the result of intoxication and a loss of self-control. He denied any intention to threaten or cause fear but acknowledged that his language and behaviour were inappropriate and excessive.
