For tourism purpose (single entry tourist visa only)

While Thailand still puts in place travel restriction, tourists who meet the requirements below can apply for single entry tourist visa at www.thaievisa.go.th and the Certificate of Entry to go to Thailand.

Required documents :

  1. Your passport copy
  2. Travel booking confirmation
  3. Proof of accommodation in Thailand e.g. hotel booking, invitation letter from family or friend in Thailand (All tourists are subject to 14-day quarantined at ASQ hotels at their own expenses.)
  4. UK/Irish bank statements with sufficient fund to cover your trip to Thailand
  5. Confirmation of legal residence in the UK or Ireland (if applicants are not nationals of these countries) e.g. long stay visa, residence permit, BRP card
  6. Copy of health insurance policy which covers COVID-19 related medical expenses in Thailand no less than 100,000 USD for the whole period of your stay in Thailand
  7. Declaration form

Well  Thai Embassies in other countries have put figures there.

From Washington DC embassy website.

2.9 Copy of recent bank statement ($700 per person and $1,500 per family).  The name of the applicant must be indicated clearly), In case of submitting a family bank statement, proof of relationship (i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided.

Switzerland Embassy Bern website.

5.  A Copy of complete bank statement of past 3 months with minimum balance no less than equivalence of 20,000 baht per person at the end of each month.

Uk one is very ambiguous withour stating a number

Why is this visa open only to resident of uk / ireland?

what does the residency has to do with covid -19?

and why do the funds must be in a uk / ireland bank?

why can't the money be in a bank outside the u.k. or even better, in a thai

bank account? how does all this connected to covid-19?

anyway the u.k. was on visa waiver , so why now the thai are so worried about

residency and showing funds in bank?

seems like they just love to make life harder for potential tourists, and the result

will be indeed, less tourists.

LOL they are applying the same restrictions like for the NON - O visa, restrictions

that were brought because people were cheating and moving funds to the bank account

right before the application, than withdrawing them.

so affraid that people will cheat them and will come to thailand without the sufficient money?

so stupid !!

who will fly now to thailand if he cannot afford it?

The money in the bank requirement has changed. When they first started offering the single entry tourist visa you needed 500k baht in a bank for 6 months.

I assume sufficient funds for it would be the equivalent of 20k baht that is standard for visa applications.

The fee is still the the normal 1000 baht or the 30 pounds.

That has been a requirement for a long time. Many embassies have the same requirement.
