The “Bad Student” group said in a Facebook post on Thursday that they will hold an anti-government protest, under the theme “Meteor Strikes Dinosaurs”, in Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong intersection on Saturday.

They said the aim of the rally is to remind lawmakers that if they don’t change their dinosaur-like outdated mindsets, they will be hit by meteors.

“We demanded reforms in the education sector, but these dinosaurs did not respond. So, we [the students] will say everything these dinosaurs don’t want to hear,” the group said.

The group has been demanding that the Education Ministry address the issue of abuse at school, cancel outdated regulations and reform the schooling system, or that the education minister resign if the ministry cannot meet their demands.

Bad Student is a collection of high-school students and student organisations from 50 educational institutes nationwide.

It won't be "over by Christmas".

I would hope that TVF members understand that it's going to take more than angry, shouting crowds to build a new future.

A lot more.

I cannot look at the almost certain course of this without sighing and wondering "How much destruction, how much blood, how many tears?"

But there can be no other way.

This isn't a "movie".

Sadly, lots but it needs to happen and I think that the people know that. There is a lot of pain until it does.

Good luck people.

The children have to correct the behavior of the adults.   Thank goodness for the youngsters of Thailand.  Without them, the place would be without hope.

I'm sure this metaphor went right over the governments collective heads, even after getting it explained to them...

PM: what is this meteor and dinosaur rubbish? I go kiss my toad now for good luck!

There is now a major press blackout on reporting these events. Huge rally in Bangkok the other day. The government are now upping their response. After blocking the protesters progress, the police suddenly dissappeared leaving the protesters facing a large mob of "rent a yellow shirt", suspected of being Thai squaddies ordered to be there. Very violent scenes ensued. 2 protesters shot.

Extensively reported in the Western press, including videos. I would post a link but doubt it would stand.

Nice pic... good luck boys!

I think the protesters need to change tactic's, as the saying goes "Hit them where it hurts most" in the pocket make everything grind to a halt

And somehow they seem to think other people should take their demands serious. Amazing Thailand.

Of course Thailand needs improvement. But I don't think these students have a successful strategy. Maybe they should study and think more and protest less.

Great title for the event. These increasingly bold, courageous and creative youngsters are impressive. Thailand needs them more than they realize. They are my heroes, at the moment. They are making me proud of the Thai people, and giving me, and many others hope, that the nation can eventually move in a forward direction, without the hapless dinosaurs.

Silly kids, don't they know I am fully protected!

It's encouraging to see that Thailand's youth is unwilling to put up with that nonsense any longer. Hopefully they'll get the change they desire.

If I knew exactly what they wanted then I may be able to form a reasonable opinion on this. At the moment all I can see, even if there are 30,000 on them on the street, is 1 in every 2000 Thais wanting a 'change'.  The Thais I mainly encounter are in business and strangely enough they aren't on the streets with the protestors.

Is it all to do with wanting extra pocket money?

Yes indeed, full coverage of all the protest action in videos and photographs is in International media outlets. I can read and see what is happening from across the border in Cambodia. Incidentally I am surprised this OP about Feudal Dinosaurs is open and not  "This topic is now closed to further replies".

At this stage businesses will not comment or get involved they have too much to lose and are easy fodder for the government.  The changes that are desired have been announced.

I thought these were smart college students, a couple of hundred dollars worth of capacitors and such on an RC car overloaded under one of the very expensive water cannon trucks, problem solved.

Not an issue - you can get meteorite insurance in Thailand ! (along with protection from volcano and icebergs) !

The very epitome of a hapless, incompetent dinosaur.

Or watch videos of the protests in the US France and some other countries and see how it's done

I remember saying so many times that Thais will not stand up and fight for their rights.  They will wai and crawl on their knees before the junta and obey like robots.  Well, I gotta man up and say I was VERY wrong.  These youngsters are brave!  I don't see any sign of them breaking or bowing out.  I'm proud of them.

It is easy to see videos of the protests - just go on the internet to any foreign news site, or any foreign news channel on Thai TV ..... on my AIS internet TV service i can get 6 different news services in English, all covering the protests.
