I've had Gerd on and off for the last 8 years. During my first bout I didn't know what it was and went to the Emergency Room. They prescribed me Omeprazole and suggested I see a specialist. The Omeprazole worked very well but the specialist said I had Eosinophilic Esophagitis as well. Now, this was believable as I have had food stuck in my esophagus 2 times, each ten years apart..and I do have to be careful by eating slow. This was an older doctor and he just didn't seem to care about me at all. He wanted me to come in every month where they'd knock me out and stick a tube down my throat to have a look around. The first time I did it I had to come in a day or two before the procedure and this nasty administrative lady read me all these documents releasing them from liability, it was something like 20 pages long. So now I had two unlikeable people involved in this procedure. Then, after the procedure I would be scheduled with the doc to go over the results. Well, I did this twice and each time I had to sit in the waiting room for way over an hour while other people came in after me and got in before me. And oh yeah, when I finally got in to see him he didn't give me any important information, basically rude as hell and all the time I'm saying to myself what a waste of time, even thinking this was possibly a scam. So, for the 3rd time they of course wanted me to come in to sign all the paperwork again and the day before that I sent them an email cancelling that appointment. They never even acknowledged my email nor did they ever contact me ever again. It was all covered by insurance so I didn't have to do anything and just went on with my life. Occasionally I have to take Omeprazole for a few days but other than that no problems.
