Thai Charter Court files police complaint against protest leaders for allegedly insulting the court

 

 

A complaint was lodged with the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) by Thailand’s Constitutional Court today against protest leader Parit Chiwarak, aka “Penguin”, and other core members of the Ratsadon group, for allegedly making insulting remarks about the court during the protest at Lat Phrao intersection on Wednesday.

 

On that day, the Constitutional Court, by unanimous vote, dismissed charges, of ethics breaches and conflicts of interest, against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha for his continued stay in the Army property after his retirement as the army chief.

 

Representing the court, Montri Saengsri, its director of legal affairs, said that he had submitted evidence, gleaned from social media, to the TCSD police in accordance with Section 198 of the Criminal Code. If found guilty, the culprits are liable to imprisonment for 1 to 7 years and/or a fine of up to 140,000 baht.

It would never fly in this country, they are far too fragile to face criticism, the loss of face would be unbearable and obviously defamatory for the poor petals!

Amazing Thailand, you have the court blatantly clearing Prayut, then have the audacity to file a police complaint against people who disagree with their pathetic brown nosing, pathetic.

So much for the government having an independent judiciary….

 

So much for the government having respect for the rule of law…..

 

We see again and again the military regime using the legal system as merely a tool to suppress free thought and free speech.

 

It’s gone far beyond sad….it’s become an obscenity.

 

 

 

Defamation laws here are insane.  With saying that I guess I could be sued.

Section 198 of the Criminal Code states that “whoever, insults the Court or the judge in the trial or adjudication of the case, or obstructs the trial or adjudication of the Court, shall be punished with imprisonment of one to seven years or fined of two thousand to fourteen thousand Baht, or both.”

 

 

 

"Insult" seems like a flexible legal term? Harkening back to the olden days of KTSD/Three Seals.

 

 

That said, Penguin did savage the judiciary and "The Institution". Boundaries and walls protecting the status quo have been stripped bare, and there's no going back unless the PtB inititiate a brutal crackdown.
