You can add to that, the inability to pay for medical / aged care. This is why I said it's possible the Thai government MAY in the future, and I'll say that again, MAY put an age cap on the retirement visa / extension, and you can't blame them for looking at the option. So, between 50 years of age and say 75 years of age you qualify. This is when you are mobile and spending. After, say 75, you no longer qualify for a retirement visa. This is when you are less mobile and spend less money, and pose more of a financial risk to Thailand. Basically, send foreigner back to their home country to see out their days and be a burden on their own country's health system. Money Number One.
