Did someone just try telling us that the sky is blue?

Next up, Thailand 5.0 - a hub for brown envelopes. (Why are they always brown?)

I can see the arrests coming, especially some of us on here who are only spouting the obvious truth, i'm just glad i'm NOT in the country and i'm hoping that while i'm away common sense prevails and the students and others with a more forward thinking attitude get into a position where they can assist Thailand in maturing from a fiefdom into a country for its people.....  But then again it would have to have politicians elected by the people, for the people......    Something certain individuals will not allow to happen at all cost.........  too many brown envelopes still on the table..........and too many snouts in the trough......

The youth are the only way for this nation to move forward. Thailand must figure out a way to rid itself of the toxic dinosaurs.

However, when you look at some of the institutions here, like the army, and especially the education system, moving forward seems to be the last direction in the world, that they want to move in.

In his mandatory 4 September 2014 asset disclosure to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the prime minister listed 128.6 million baht (US$3.9 million) in assets and 654,745 baht (US$20,000) in liabilities.[His assets included a Mercedes Benz S600L, a BMW 740Li series sedan, three additional vehicles, nine luxury watches valued at three million baht,[US$200,000 in jewelry, and several pistols. He also reported the transfer of 466.5 million baht (US$14.3 million) to other family members. As army chief, prior to his retirement at the end of September, the general received a 1.4 million baht (US$43,000) annual salary.

Since the last time I looked the links showing his wealth at 2 billion baht have disappeared, but then maybe he is so very wealth because Prayut is a published songwriter. In the aftermath of the 2014 coup, Prayut wrote a song called "Return Happiness to Thailand", which is widely played on state radio and television stations.  The song communicates that the Thai people had not been happy as a result of the political crisis, and that the junta has come to return happiness to the people.

So his wealth must be from all of the royalties he has received every time it is played.....lol

Not bad for a Military General song writer,  dancer and frog talker then, and of course all above board, i've copied the figures you have posted if you don't mind (say if you do) for reference, the figure i quoted as i said came from another post a couple of weeks back and apparently came from Wiki!

Cockroach infestation...... !     Tea money has been around 45 %  for a few years now......  You couldn't even get a cure for cancer into Thailand without paying all the little greedy hands off first..... It's in the DNA, it's called greedy little #$%@ syndrome.......  Disgusting indeed.......

I wanted to open up a canine training business a few years back, supplying Law enforcement and the Military with crossed trained dogs for protection and narcotic/bomb detection.  Was told by a Lt. General I was asked to see if it was possible that it would cost me over 2 million baht to start the process and then paying import fees on the dogs I was going to be bringing in from Belgium, and Czechoslovakia, then a large percentage of the fees for my supplies to be paid in order to start.  Said no thank you, and chucked that idea out of the window.  Corruption everywhere you look.

National Anti-Corruption Commission is clearly a complainer and troublemaker!

It seems that there are no depths to low for this Government to sink to. Protesting corruption and nepotism and demanding Prayut's resignation and a new charter and reformation of the Monarchy have been the main demands of the student protests and rightly so. It has been largely peaceful on the student side but increasingly the mega-corrupt have been resorting to "rule by law" in order so defend against the just calls change. So we have seen all manner or charges laid against protesters, including health laws as in spite of proudly boasting before that Covid 19 is no longer in the country suddenly we are all at risk again - according to the charges. Clearly the Government will resort to any means to protect the flow of brown envelopes and protect their power-base.

But in a news item on a competitor's website tonight revealed the lowest beneath contempt action by the Government yet - a 16 year old boy has been charged with Les Majeste. In spite of His Majesty asking that the Section 112 law not be used it has now faced an upsurge in usage in protester's population control weaponry by the evil usurpers.

So keep your kids safe because this lot are just disgusting and no trick is too dirty for them.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission position in 1974's Constitution was that "The State should organize government service works and other works efficiently and should take all steps to prevent and suppress the quest for benefits by corruption means."

Nothing about it being the media's duty.

In 2019 its budget was 2,239 million baht.  If it will not do anything at least it could be disbanded and money given to poor students.

NCPO Orders automatically waived all procurement and anti- corruption laws. So no surprise the consequences.

The only surprise now is that there's an independent graft watchdog.?. Make sure you have defamation insurance (if there is such a thing).

I think bullet proof vests are illegal aren't they ?

Case in point he is now worth a cool 2 billion baht when he was only worth just millions when he swept himself into power.  To bad this country can not do like Malaysia and the corrupt bribe taking brown envelope takers rounded up and arrested.  Or maybe like Saudi Arabia did a few years ago just imprison the lot in a hi-so hotel for well, life. Something needs to change, all these scheming tards need to be tossed out.

Same as a turd only shinier ????????

I just wish that this lovely country could be free of these inept, unelected, corrupt, bungling buffoons.

I look forward to the day that Thailand has a free, fair, elected government working for the good & benefit of the whole country, I also wish to live long enough to see it. ????

They just don't care anymore , do they?

It used to be "try and hide it up" now they dont care because no one can do anything about it.

Sad for you thailand, look what you've become !

Hope the whole economy crashes and it implodes, then they can start again.

Problem is every Thai Government at least since I came interested in the place from the late 90's has been corrupt on a massive scale, and they all come basically from the same social class.

Thaksin became the touchstone of anger for this ruling class, simply because he, unlike most them, this lot included, didn't make that much effort to try to hide his corruption, but he threw some crumbs to the masses so they loved him.

Very bad form for the 'club'

It's interesting to me, harking back to 2014, whatever happened to all the Junta Huggers who used to troll any of us that dared suggest that this lot wouldn't be any different, and heralded the Junta as the start of a whole new era of good governance. There was a bunch of them, I think we all remember the names.

They, to a man seem to have disappeared over the past few years, and surely this report and the subsequent ludicrous statements from Prayut should have them hanging their heads in shame, or at least embarrassment.

But if the press print anything they'll be shut down & sued for deformation.

He added that government officials preferred working behind closed doors because they were afraid of being attacked by the media if they were too transparent.
