Prayut Chan-o-cha

Government corruption hit a new high under the post-coup National Council for Peace (NCPO) junta, according to a report released by the National Anti-Corruption Commission on Thursday.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who led the NCPO junta after staging the 2014 coup, acknowledged the report’s findings but said the figures drew mostly on complaints of corruption rather than proven cases.

He said that people would always try to cheat the system but said he did not want to reveal the names of the culprits.

Instead, he ordered the Prime Minister’s Office to publicise the achievements of his government to show how “well it had served the people”.

Asked whether each ministry would now be inspected for corruption, he said monitoring for government graft was the media’s job.

He added that government officials preferred working behind closed doors because they were afraid of being attacked by the media if they were too transparent.

Yes you dont want to be too transparent. And it's always just best to let someone who can't prosecute you do all the investigating.

He's gone from 2014's promise to stamp out corruption "once and for all" to this.

Case in point he is now worth a cool 2 billion baht when he was only worth just millions when he swept himself into power.  To bad this country can not do like Malaysia and the corrupt bribe taking brown envelope takers rounded up and arrested.  Or maybe like Saudi Arabia did a few years ago just imprison the lot in a hi-so hotel for well, life. Something needs to change, all these scheming tards need to be tossed out.

well he will, as there will be nothing left for anyone else to pilfer under his watch-man, pun intended.  The coffers will be bare and the Thai people left hanging onto nothing.  They will all become true Buddhists as they will have given up all worldly possessions, of which the takers will have full bellies, full bank accounts, and private jets to fly off in.  Time for the people to take this account as the final que and toss these adam henry's out on their ears and jail the lot.

It's a pity a certain TV junta fanboy is no longer here to give his opinion !

????????????????

NCPO Orders automatically waived all procurement and anti- corruption laws. So no surprise the consequences.

The only surprise now is that there's an independent graft watchdog.?. Make sure you have defamation insurance (if there is such a thing).

Either this man is uniquely ignorant or immensely naive. Either way, he doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed.

There he says on one hand...

So how, Mr. Smartypants, is the media going to "monitor graft" when your government officials "prefer working behind closed doors"?

And IF the media reported on government graft, wouldn't your officials immediately slap them with defamation lawsuits left and right -- as they have done on countless occasions in the past?

It IS indeed a government's duty to stamp out and prosecute corruption within its departments. The media can report on graft but they cannot hold the culprits liable, can they?

The biggest problem you seem to have, Mr. Prayuth, is that corruption has infested virtually each and every government department. And do you honestly believe they are going to rat each other out? They won't. They DEPEND on each other. They PROFIT from one another.

Go back to your poems and songs, Mr. Prayuth. I feel sorry for you.
