Ha Ha, some great quotes from Charlie- ' My wife always says i don't do anything.' He was always a rock, never thought he wouldn't be there anymore. Still 80 is a good innings. Amazing that Keith has outlasted him. Charlie's good tonight, ain't he?

Tippaporn
Johnny and Edgar Winter performing Tobacco Road at the Olympic Auditorium in L.A. on March 7, '70. It's always interesting to read the comments for some personal perspective to the music. Brad McCormick Edgars voice is incredible... as good as Johnnys guitar. I can only imagine what it was like to be in their house growing up as kids. I've been playing since 1964 and John was my idol. Most people don't know that Edgar was voted best sax player for many years by Playboy mag... and he's an incredible keyboardist. God rest you Johnny. Patrick Milloy I was 15 when I was fortunate enough to catch this show. Mountain had just finished their set. Johnny & Edgar were now up while we waited for Frank Zappa to come on. When he did, we were treated to much of the Hot Rats album. I couldn't have asked more for my $4 admission fee. 15 years old, LOL. Probably sold some bud to get the 4 bucks, LOL. I could have found him a nice Thai country lady to take care of his every need. He could have relaxed on her farm and played weekly gigs in Udon. Khon Kaen, Khorat etc. The Thais would have loved him with his down to earth personality.

They were quite a band,. With your roots in Der Fatherland Tippers, you must feel a particular affinity for German bands seeking an identity post WW2.
