That is the embassy waning it. Upload proof of at least the equivalent of 20k baht in a bank. That is all that is required for a visa exempt entry when arrive in the country.

yes i will do that soon  just strange it wasnt mentioned in the first requirements

It is certainly not required to apply for a COE. The embassy has created their own requirement to get it.

I filled my visa out at the new york branch.  I gave them the application, insurance, passport, two passport size photos, bank statements, confirmation of flight, confirmation of asq and visa fee in the form of a money order.

No no that's a visa. You do not need to give bank statements lol. The requirement is 20k baht

What site are you applying on? Doesn't ask for it at https://coethailand.mfa.go.th (for the first phase anyway).

Yes the only requirement is 20k baht at airport arrival. Anything other than that is a 60 day tourist Visa lol. This is simply the wroung selection for Visa. No bank statements lol. All this is standard on Thai site. The embassy can't change exempt rules.

They may want to see no less than say 40k Baht in account not including airfares ASQ etc. Just last page of statement will do. But this is surely not good for tourism. There a joke

I agree, this is just the local embassy wanting it, it is not officially required, I just got all my documentation including COE from Sri Lanka (of all places) very efficiently, and without any financial proof!

Correct they are trying to keep the ASQ hotels empty and Thai unemployed. That's how smart they are.
