Thailand intensifies border controls due to COVID spread in neighbouring countries

Deputy Director-General of Thailand’s Disease Control Department, Dr. Sophon Iamsirithavorn, said today that many neighbouring countries are seeing a large increase in new COVID-19 infections. Malaysia recently reported 4,029 new cases, bringing the cumulative total to 155,095, while Myanmar found 491 new cases, raising their total to 133,569.

Health Ministry assurance of safe COVID-19 vaccines

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Minister of Public Health has assured the public that all COVID-19 vaccines approved for administration in Thailand are safe. The Ministry is now planning to start vaccinating members of the public in June, following health workers and the at-risk population.

BEIJING (Reuters) - China's Sinovac Biotech said on Monday that a clinical trial in Brazil showed its COVID-19 vaccine was almost 20 percentage points more effective in a small sub-group of patients who received their two doses longer apart.

LONDON (Reuters) - More than 20 shellfish trucks parked on roads near British parliament and Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Downing Street residence on Monday to protest against post-Brexit bureaucracy that they say has stopped them exporting to the European Union.

PHUKET:-- A park officer at Phuket’s Sirinath National Park is under investigation for allegedly spying on a woman at a public toilet in the park yesterday (Jan 17) by climbing the wall separating the men’s and women’s sections of the restroom.
