webfact
Govt to make BCG the national economic strategy BANGKOK (NNT) - The PM and the cabinet intend to use the Bio-Circular-Green Economic Model or BCG as a national strategy over the next 6 years to increase GDP. Government Spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri, has disclosed that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha was chair of a meeting with the Bio-Circular-Green Economy committee, to consider adopting the BCG model as the Kingdom’s economic strategy from 2021 to 2026. According to the committee, for decades, Thailand has been trading its natural resources and biodiversity for economic growth and GDP. Development in terms of the economy is also the downfall of Nature. It inevitably damages the environment, biodiversity, and public health by causing pollution. Each year, Thailand has to spend a large part its of budget on solving problems caused by the practice. It becomes even more unbalanced when the country can’t earn as much as it has lost. Growth is too often confined to only the big cities, and the gap of inequality is getting wider. The economic model of the BCG or Bio-Circular-Green Economy will fill the gaps and develop the country’s economy by using technology, innovations, and scientific knowledge, along with its strengths of rich culture and natural resources. That way the country will be able to use a lot fewer resources and make the most of them. The BCG economic drive between 2021 and 2026 comprises four keys to development; Agriculture and Food/ Health and Medication/ Energy - Materials and Bio-Chemical/ and Tourism and Creative Economy. The four development keys will be integrated with biodiversity and culture which are the fundamental capital to create well-being for the citizens. The committee expects that the BCG model will increase the GDP to 4.4 trillion baht or 24 percent more in 6 years. With all the positive possibilities that BCG can bring to the country, the committee approved the BCG economic model, and elevated it to the national agenda as a post-COVID-19 strategy to be implemented in the 2022 fiscal year. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-01-18 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

SolarJim
Well, at least they're paying lip service to the slow motion environmental catastrophe that is Thailand's waterways, air, and gulf. Nobody will want to come to Thailand in the very near future because of the filthy water and air. Here on the gulf, they treat it like a toilet, while overfishing it. Basic life lesson: Don't poop where you eat........
