For those wondering, covid extension at muang Thong thani was a breeze today. Went at 10am and there were no more than 10 of us there, although I wonder if that will still be true next week as I think the majority of us are due on the 29th. Show up with your passport photo and copies and they'll give you the paperwork you need there and I was in and out within 30 minutes. Paid 1900 baht and received the under consideration stamp to return again on Feb 4th.

The immigration officer did make a point to say that this will be the last covid extension and "you have to go home now," but she also did mention that afterwards maybe there might be a 30 day extension I could apply for after this final 60 day extension, so take that for what it's worth.

So just an update for those wondering. For those in the same situation, I'd say now is a really good time to go to immigration.

What did you need to bring? Just a passport photo and copies? Thanks!

Passport, passport photo, copies of photo page, entry stamp with tm30, and most recent stamp, and 1900thb.

Just go up to the 4th floor and they'll give you the forms you need and they'll give you a number and you wait to be called.

Interesting.  I was also there yesterday (21 Jan), in the afternoon, but I wasn't told anything about this being the last possible extension.  Does anyone know if there's been an official announcement about this?

Not done yet as far as I know. They did not do the last extension until about 5 days before it was due to end.

This is what they said each time we approached one of these deadlines.   What a random immigration officer says is completely meaningless.  They are probably just trying to scare people into buying expensive volunteer visas again.

I think its highly unlikely they will be kicking people out, but we will just have to wait and see.

Did you get the mean fat lady with the bulldog eyes?  She was really nasty to me. I think she remembers faces, and since I've been here since the outbreak began a year ago she is trying to intimidate me into leaving.
