Popular Post madmitch
Can anyone see any logic or reason for what they are doing on the stretch of road outside the Green Man? Never a road with any traffic problems, they've widened it, or at least will have when they eventually get around to resurfacing it, and are building a central reservation. In doing this, the u-turn obsessed traffic-planners have now effectively stopped right turns at Shell, the underused trading centre containing Chao Doi coffee, the Green Man and it's newly built padel tennis courts. So this means more u-turns, which are more dangerous and cause more traffic hold-ups than right turns. And one of the u-turns points looks like it'll be right in front of Global House, onto a part of the road that hasn't been widened. Of course this new flow will simply encourage more people to drive on the wrong side of the road, especially motorcycles. What are they thinking? Call me cynical but for me the only reason for this is to use up, and of course siphon off, some local government budget. Meanwhile, the collapsed road on the hills a few hundred metres away remains untouched (as far as I can see). Probably waiting for a major accident before they do anything. KarenBravo
Makes me laugh these road widening schemes. If they don't move the drains, no one uses the new lane. No doubt, the contractor is a relative of someone in the local government.
LivinginKata
I think the road divider is a good idea, although I take the point about dangerous u-turns. I suppose it will take some time to make an engineering plan and get budget to fix the broken road up the hill. I watched them widen that road some years ago. It was obvious it was a substandard job. The road that connects Kata to Karon Beach has recently been resurfaced and the way they have left the drains make that part of the road completely unuseable.

Since weeks the conditions are to perfect and easy for them to do that jobs lol.
