Do I need MorChana app on phone to drive between provinces.

Featured Replies

I want to drive from Hua Hin to Surin and back. Do I need to download the MorChana app on my phone. I prefer not to but if it will be a problem if I am stopped by the police I will download it.

No.

Might be advisable to download Thai chana instead which is less intrusive. I have this but its not activated and I've never used it at all. more of a ' just in case ' measure. Our village deputy also gave us an official letter stating reason for travel. Also a just in case thing.

I just returned from a round trip from Petchabun to Bangkok ( no overnight ) and going into Bangkok there were no check points actually operating. On our return trip we got 1 hour from home before we came to an operating checkpoint.  Here, we had to leave the car, have our temperature checked , show our documents ( in my case passport ) and give our phone numbers and address. No mention of any apps whatsoever. They were stopping everyone , not just us , and were very friendly and polite. Took about 5-10 minutes.

Of course, it might be different at other checkpoints.
