rooster59
Bangkok to display air pollution levels on traffic screens Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - Bangkok City Hall has joined the national police to display real-time air quality reports on the city’s intelligent traffic displays, to enable residents to protect themselves better. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has joined the Royal Thai Police to display real time PM 2.5 airborne dust data on intelligent traffic displays and billboards operated by the BMA and the police. The air quality readings will come from the BMA’s air quality measuring stations in 70 locations across the city. The air quality reports will be displayed on the screens from 6am to 8am, from 11am to 1pm and from 5pm to 7pm. The data reported on each screen will be refreshed every 15 seconds to provide the most up to date information. The BMA’s Deputy Permanent Secretary Chatree Wattanakhajorn said the city has seen an increase in air pollution over the past couple of years, so city hall needs to find new ways to provide residents with the information they need to make their daily plans. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-02-06 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Popular Post Enzian
What good does this do? We don't need anyone to tell us it's bad. Sell the screens and hire people to go out in the country and make the farmers stop burning. I know we can't stop farmers in Burma and other place, but have to start somewhere, and close is best. 6

Absolutely right!! This kind of ineptitude is a national disease. They condemn corruption, but they don't stop it.They collect debris out of the Chao Praya river, instead of killing the source of it, i.e.ban the production of the millions of single-use polypropylene containers, being used for Scha-jen and other drinks daily. They bemoan the loss of around 60 men and women every day on the streets, but the government does not do anything to stop this. The complete inability to change anything for the better in this country truly is sickening. 5 1
Popular Post Emdog
Just checked AQI for Bangkok (103). Pattaya is 150: must be all the traffic here (not!) Perhaps besides numbers they should rotate names and photos of those officials supposed to stop the field burnings etc, maybe even home phone numbers. Name and shame never happens here, unless it is opposition party members 5
mrfill
Would I be anywhere near the mark if I thought the times of the highest figures were between 8 and 11 am and between 1 and 4 pm?

Iron Tongue
And what will this do for motorists besides provide one more distraction? Is there any expectation that drivers operating their vehicles will decide to pull over and walk?

newnative
Just more of the same--pretend to do something instead of actually doing anything. This is suppose to help us 'protect ourselves'. Where's the government in all this? Doing nothing useful. Next up, billboards with the daily motor vehicle death count--neatly taking care of that problem, as well.
