YALA (NNT) - Holders of the government’s welfare card are the first to receive COVID-19 payouts in the new Rao Chana campaign. Payout recipients in Yala have started to use their allowance to purchase essential items at participating stores, right after receiving their money today.

Welfare card holders in Yala province commented that they are pleased the government is providing this financial aid to help them handle their cost of living.

A wholesaler at Muang Mai Super, one of the participating shops in the province registered as a Blue Flag Pracharat store, said they have seen an increase in the number of customers who came out to redeem their allowances, resulting in rising sales.

The shop owner said her store can participate in the new Rao Chana campaign without a new registration, however she needed to update the government’s Thoong Ngern app to receive electronic payments, to the latest version.

She said she hopes the government will approve additional shopping campaigns to help boost the economy in Yala and in the country overall.
