PHUKET: Rescue workers are urging villagers to beware king cobras in the Moo 2 area of Pa Khlok after four large king cobras each measuring over five metres long have been caught in the area in the past month.

The latest large king cobra was caught late yesterday (Feb 5), Nattaphong Kongkim of the Kusoldharm Rescue Foundation explained.

Rescue workers were called to the house, located in the middle of a rubber plantation, by Northeast native Ponma Thanasom, who was visibly frightened and pointing to a large rack for hanging rubber sheets to dry, where he said a very large cobra was hiding.

how much costs antivenom if you are bitten ? or maybe it's not even worth trying to survive ?

No antivenin for king cobra. Red Cross in Bangkok is the only snakebite centre.

Hmmm, with a timeline of sometimes 30 minutes before death,  it is lucky that most major hospitals in  Southern Thailand  have polyvalent antivenom for treating king cobra bites.

5 in one area....!? And everyone was laughing when I said they let them loose from snake show places as they have no customers and can't look after them....!

Send them to China, they make very nice soup out of these....????

When asked what steps I would take in dealing with a Cobra of this size, my answer would be " Bloody great big ones "

If I uncovered that one I'd be dead from shock before it bit me.

Two patently incorrect statements in one line!

Hospitals in Phuket that have antivenin for King Cobra snakes:

Vachira Hospital – 076 361 234

Thalang Hospital – 076 311 033

Good to see you are on the ball!  ????

Would like to have onw in my Soi to clean it up from the cats and dogs

For that you need a big python, not a cobra.

Recently watched an episode of "Banged Up Abroad" where the guy was caught and jailed for smuggling exotic and endangered animals.

At one point he was talking about King Cobra and how a full grown one can rear up to over 5ft and look you straight in the eye before striking.

Hells Teeth  :shock1:
