How about it "littlekop" (our Thai national translator), here's your chance to earn some business. Impress us with this one and I'll be happy to send some referral work your way. I would honestly like to know more about certified translations as they're often needed in business and immigration matters. Do you have a marketing website describing your services? 17 consecutive commercial advertisements, it's time to show us what you got. (a combination of language / culture no less) truly a bonus question. :o

That should be an easy one for any Thai person, much less a translator. I'd take it on myself, but it would be good to see if Cali's challenge is taken up.

If not, I guess we'll have a situation best described as: อย่าจับปลาสองมือ

Except for the first line and for the word raksaa (Thai rendition of Sanskrit rakṣa), it's all in Pali. Translation below, with Thai-style transcription of Pali (not original Pali pronunciation) and original Pali (save for ikawati, which I don't know and can't find in my Pali dictionary]

Tang Namo 3 Jop

Phutthang Raksa Thammang Raksa

Sangkhang Raksa Santi Phuttho

Ikawiti

Perform prayer 3 times

Buddha preserves/protects; Dhammam preserves/protects

Sangha preserves/protects; Peace Buddha

Ikawiti

[don't know this one but it crops up relatively frequently in Buddhist chants; possbily 'repeat']

Original Pali:

Buddham Rakkha Dhamma Rakkha

Sangham Rakkha Santi Buddho

I wish I could write like that. Also I agree with sabaijai's phonetic translation.

Wow, nice to know we have academics on-board who can handle something like that. I guess the real advantage of having some of our Thai friends contribute is some background explanation on these grey areas / religion that transcend just simple translation. I can only encourage those people to participate more because I think everyone gains from these exchanges. Beautiful, elegant script. :o

Thx for the help.

Me too. Unfortunately, aside from long-term monks, few Thais understand the Pali they're chanting, other than the basics (and this one is very basic, so virtually every Thai Buddhist would know the meaning).
