Health authorities have reassured the region that proactive measures are being taken to find and treat patients in border communities. The Governor of Tak, Pongrat Piromrat has signed an order to put the community surrounding Masjid Anso in Mae Sot district on a 7-day lockdown, in an attempt to curb community transmission of COVID-19. With this order now effective, residents of Masjid Anso community on Mae Sot - Mae Tao road are not allowed to leave the area, while people outside it are not allowed to enter, from now until 17th February. Persons who wish to travel in or out of the community must have valid reasons and must be pre-approved by a disease control official. Dr Chawetsan Namwat, the acting chief of the Health Emergency Division of the Department of Disease Control, announced today that there are now 43 COVID-19 cases in Mae Sot district. Disease investigation of these patients has led to 230 persons now identified as being at high risk of contracting the virus. Yom
So this is, of course, a coincidental connection, a lignite fired powerplant with a lot of PM2.5-output and the discovery of new COVID-19 cases. Once upon a time ... 'Refugees' is another story.
JAS21
The problem in Tak if it wasn't serious would be amusing. We live in Nonthaburi and were planning a golfing trip. First stop Tak and play Bhumibol Dam Golf Course. MrsJ phoned the course yesterday to check ... reply ...'O' you come from Nonthaburi, not allowed to play here .... but we live in Pakkret district ... 'cannot' .......so we will stay home. Maybe a better idea anyway as we don't know where and if the virus is spreading.
