Virus outbreak hits Chinese community in Cambodia

Featured Replies

An outbreak of coronavirus has hit the Chinese expat community in Cambodia, the country's Premier Hun Sen said Saturday, a setback in the Southeast Asian nation's otherwise successful containment efforts.

The kingdom has so far fared well in tackling the virus and life in the capital Phnom Penh has largely returned to normal.

But a group of Chinese nationals who underwent testing to obtain medical certificates for overseas travel recorded positive results on Saturday, sparking fears of a wider outbreak in the community.

ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français

ThaiVisa, it's also in French

Clear indication that all who travel should be tested even if they have been innoculated as they can still carry Wuflu. (Or maybe just ban Wuflulanders from traveling ????????????)

To put this recent "20 February Community Outbreak" in Phom Penh into perspective, I quote the subtitle to a CCTV shot showing a Chinese lady walking along a hotel corridor (ref: Khmer Times):-

Four infected Chinese ladies escaped from their quarantine hotel by bribing two security guards!!

I also quote (ref: Khmer Times):-

"Most of the  32 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours are Chinese nationals but at no time or for any reason should they be discriminated upon".

I will make no further comment!!

Oh such a surprise!  Chinese nationals have tested positive for Covid-19.  I thought CCP did such a fine job in containing their virus...

More testing, more "cases". Less testing, less "cases".

Does anyone have an further details about this story?  (The links provided by Burma Bill don't work).

If I'm understanding this correctly, these were people already living in Cambodia and were tested as part of the requirements to travel out of the country.  If that's the case, then they've been in Cambodia spreading the virus for XX months and no doubt it will have spread widely across the population.  Also, if the outbreak was amongst Chinese expats living in Cambodia, what's to say the didn't pick the virus up from a Cambodian national or anyone else for than matter?

Apologies, no, but if you search "Khmer Times" on the internet (as I did), there are several articles about this 20 February Community "hot spot".
