Bredbury Blue
Noticed in recent years the increased use of a shrub with beautiful yellow flowers along roadsides. Currently in my area there are quite a few roads looking quite spectacular because of the yellow flowers. The wife tells me it's called in thai 'Tong-urai' but what is it called in English? katana
As Andrew said, maybe ทองอุไร https://th.wikipedia.org/wiki/ทองอุไร https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tecoma_stans
cooked
It is indeed Tecoma stans, Latin names really do help when discussing plant names in Thailand. Obviously, this flower being yellow and thus being a royal colour (both the late king and the present one being born on a Monday), but I wonder why I am seeing it all over the place recently, in Buriram anyway. My wife says she knew it long ago, so why now? I can't say I particularly like the rather vulgar shade of yellow that it produces, but that's just me. Bredbury Blue
Thanks everyone. Here's a pic taken in Khao Yai area a few months back by the wife. It's definitely increasing in popularity around Thailand over the years.
