Two arrested for trying to smuggle drugs into quarantine centres

Featured Replies

Police on Sunday arrested two women, one Chinese and one Vietnamese, after they attempted to smuggle drugs into Preah Sihanouk provincial quarantine centres. Major Kong Ratana, provincial anti-drug department officer, identified the Chinese woman as Wang Shi Shi, 25, working for a Chinese casino in Sihanoukville. The Vietnamese woman was identified as Vin Kimheung, 28, a karaoke girl living in Buon commune, in Sihanoukville.

Maj Ratana said Shi Shi was arrested at 10.30pm on Sunday at a Chinese-owned-casino which is being used as a quarantine centre in Buon commune. He said at about 10pm that night, Shi Shi drove to the quarantine centre in Buon commune where three of her male friends were under quarantine.

He added that Shi Shi asked permission from the police officers who were guarding the centre to deliver food to the three Chinese friends. “After police inspected the packages of food, they found and seized a total of 20 small crystal methamphetamine tablets hidden inside,” Maj Ratana told Khmer Times yesterday.
