An extraordinary video from a road outside Bangkok yesterday showed a red plate (brand new) Toyota C-HR skewered with a pole that had come loose from an Isuzu D-Max pick-up behind.

It went straight through the back window of the new car and stopped just inches from the head of the driver.

It was one of about eight metal poles loaded onto the roof of the pick-up. There was a flimsy piece of red cloth to "satisfy the law".

According to the post on the accident and situation site (V.2) the vehicles were travelling inbound on Barom Ratchachonnanee Road.

The post contained few details except that "Holy things are real - don't diss them".

From experience, I've found that thought is not one of their strong points!

Good job the C-HR driver was wearing his amulets. I've zoomed in but still can't make out the numberplate for the lottery .....

It’s is news such as this which frightens me.

The idiotic carelessness of a total moron can have a life changing impact on others - the BiB & general attitudes towards safety do nothing more than enable & exacerbate these risks.

Obviously the Toyota's fault for stopping too quick.

"idiots" were a compliment

I have looked several times and I think the pipe in the car is a smaller diameter. If so I would presume it was put inside another pipe but not secured.

To be fair, I think our being a little too harsh, I mean it was one pole, not the lot ????

So, not content with the number of deaths by stationary poles , the evil poles have now started launching themselves at unsuspecting drivers ?

I see them all over doing this scary as hell

The poles were to be deployed at Soi Cowboy..i think ????

is it what we call to be in "pole position" ????

All perfectly normal just a pole through your back window move along ????

There was a flimsy piece of red cloth to "satisfy the law".

What does the law say about proper/secure tie-downs???

Maybe on his way to Soi cowboy to set up new poles for pole dancing in October when the tourists return......55555

Time to get reinforced glass......

Move Along, Nothing To See Here. ????????

Could've been worse .. might've been an earthy peasant coming thru the rear screen if there'd been a load of workers in the back of the truck ..

Others ??!!

Joking apart..anyone in that front passenger seat could have so easily worn that pole and I hate to think of the outcome..Lucky overall!

I always keep my pipe in my glove box! ????

I think he forgot the Amulets. If he was wearing them this would never had happened to his new car.
