webfact
Picture: Sanook The head of the business association of Khao San Road told INN (as reported by Sanook) that the government's decision to ban water fights at next month's Songkran festival will cost the street at least 70 million baht in revenue. In years past the famed tourism area attracted thousands principally to throw water at each other. This has now been banned. All that is left are parades and cultural events. Sanga Reuangwattanakul said that from 13th to 15th in years past they could expect upwards of 100 million baht to be spent. This will now be just 10 million baht a day - an 80% reduction, he assessed. All Covid protocols will be in place and no one will be able to sell water guns or bring them into the Khao San area, he said. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-03-22 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Maybe peoples long term health has been deemed more important than short term monetary gains and i agree .

So with only 20% revenue from cultural activities does that mean Thailand isn't as cultural as it would like to make out?
