Can the defamation law touch you if you're outside of the country?

1. Can the defamation law touch you if you're outside of the country?

2. What if you don't mention the name of the company, but indicate the company by describing its logo? Or if people can add 1+1 by looking at my profile (don't ask how, too long to explain)

You mean your other profile on this forum?

1- theoretically yes, if what you are doing is also punishable by law in your country of residence, or in the country where you publish your comment. many countries have laws against false comments, denigration, defamation, etc.

there's also the question of your identification as the author.

(in practice, it's highly improbable, but it's not impossible)

2- if the public can too easily guess which company you are talking about, then yes, it's the same as mentioning the company name

P.S.

even if your own country's freedom of speech laws protect you there, a Thai court can still order your arrest for whenever you set foot in Thailand.

Governments can send extraction teams anywhere and bring you back for prosecution. It's just not real common. Look what they did to that guy in Iran some drone just dropped a shell on him from outer space.

Extradition through legal process - yes. Extraction CIA style NO. "Governments can send extraction teams anywhere and bring you back for prosecution". Even for terrorists suspects no country allows another country to conduct kidnapping/extractions without some legal process. I'm not saying the CIA, Mosad, MI6 etc  have never done it, but it wasn't legal in any country and certainly not something any government would do over a defamation case ????

The Iran case - that was an outright assignation not an extraction ????

Especially in the case of the Krating Daang man.......

when you are not planning to go to ASEAN AREA the changes are small that you will feel any consequences of you action. you do limit do yourselves in traveling. as well that you have to make sure that your home country or nay other country you travel to is not willing to execute the arrest if that is ordered by the Thai court. the court order itself has to be confirmed by the court of the country you live in or stay. still, possible they will get you legally deported to Thailand. Changes are real as well small. you can not predict the future.

And that was just for posting a 3 out of 5 stars review on his neighborhood falafel joint. Tip - If they forget the extra tahini sauce, just let it go.

Prosecution if you are lucky.  You don't want to wind up in one of those CIA black sites (BTW 5/5 stars for you guys in the CIA.  Excellent waterboarding technique, attention to details with a focus on the "guest"'s experience.  Will definitely return the next time I'm in the area..... where ever that may be)

I personally assume "no" (living outside Thailand) but I am aware of Thai "Men in Black" with a black car, who may grab me off the street and dump me in the Mekong River!!

Is Men in Black: International coming to Netflix? Where to stream

What about just posting anything you want anonymously ?

I defame companies online since 20 years and as you can see I am still here ?

Why people look for problems where there aren't any ?

I would hate to be deported to Germany, unless I was dropped off at a Top Dog and ordered a German, a Frankfurter and a cop and everyone turned around and laughed at me when I was just trying to order a meal and not make a sexual joke.

5555 I doubt they would spend the money to extradite you. Keep your head low.

I have two VPN : a pay one and the Opera free one.

I have used the pay one to watch géo restricted French and Belgian state TV docus.

I don't use them any more but keep paying for the pay one out of habit.

Now my questions are :

@ can the target website possibly know my real country location and see that I cheat by using a VPN?

@ can the target website know my PC Internet ID and eventually locate me by checking with my ISP?

@ does my PC ID  changes every time I log in with the VPN?

Just curious. Not intending any e-crime! (maybe an occasional géo restricted!).

I already looked these questions on Google but didn't find what I wanted ...

China does this routinely (they kidnapped people in Sweden, Thailand, Hongkong ) and nobody dares to complain.

Vietnam has kidnapped someone in Germany, Germany didn't complain too much.

I haven't heard of Thailand doing this.

If you really need to stay anon you use only the "TOR browser" with VPN. It's practically untraceable.

so easy yes !!!

ask yourself:

what will you gain after this post?  save the world?  sleep better?  get people mad?  feel relieved?  justice?

surely you will not get money or real justice.

what will you lose?  if you travel, possibly your freedom.  possibly there will be lawsuits, court cases, tons of money on lawyers.....family and friend ashamed.

but i get it....if you must do this.......then you must.   but i don't know how a company can get under someone's skin this much.  unless they locked you in a basement, tortured by ladyboys, forced to eat dragon excrement for decades.........  i mean, there could be a reasonable reason.
