BananaBandit Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 (edited) i'm including a pic of the perpetrator. The bite hurt quite a lot, woke me up in fact. So I let the ants eat him for a while, though I assume enough of the corpus remains for some of you experts to determine the taxonomy. Is this a centipede or something? Is this what the Thais call the kah neung roy? Is this the same thing that bit the famous old Thai fighter, who later had a fatal reaction? If so, how do I know if I'm having a severe reaction? As for specifics, I got bit on a finger. Now nine hours since the incident, I see a vaguely purplish spot, ovalish in shape, perhaps 6 millimetres in circumference. After a few minutes of sharp pain, there has been basically no pain at all. Edited March 26, 2021 by BananaBandit
Sheryl Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 It is a centipede. If you were having a severe reaction you'd know by now (trouble breathing etc). You seem to have gotten off lightly, perhaps it was a fairly small one - as with the larger ones the pain is excrutiating and can last for days. For future reference, applying papaya can help neutralize the toxin. .Also apply ice, immediately afterwards to slow down toxin spread. Ice immediately then get the papaya, mash it up and apply that for some time. Keep re-applying until pain free. (may need to take some pain killers as well). 2

There is an Isan word completely different which I forgot. There seems to be quite a variety of centipedes. And call yourself lucky if you get through like you described. 1
