Daily News published the latest results of a poll conducted by Suan Susit after they asked 1,265 Thais last week about economic stimulation and their travel history.

Asked how much they travelled (domestically) before the pandemic 39.37% said once every 2-3 months. Once a month 25.69%  and 2-3 times per month 12.25%.

When the pandemic struck 59.29% stopped travelling altogether, 24.74% went once every 2-3 months and only 6.4% went on a trip every month.

When government travel stimulus measures came in 37.94% travelled once every 2-3 months, 31.46% did not travel at all and 16.36 took one trip a month.

Asked if they spent more due to government stimulus measures 43.47% said they spent the same as before, 39.26% said more and 8.49% said they didn't dare spend money on travel.

Asked about their satisfaction regarding which government measures were OK 80.47% mentioned extra holidays being to their liking.

79.13% liked the Try, like and shop scheme, 67.67% were in favor of Let's Travel Together, Travel Thailand was 67.58% and the Kamlang Jai package 63%.

Reasons for travel were #1 getting out with family and friends, #2 taking advantage of holidays, #3 there being less Covid cases, #4 the stimulus packages and #5 having enough savings to spend.

Three quarters of Thais polled said they were in favor of promoting domestic tourism.

cancelling songkran the last year and to encourage people travel at later dates, after the first wave passed, was the best decision.

In majority of countries the governments did not have balls to cancel easter and ramadan, because they are religious holidays.

yet thai government has not learned mood of population and did not learn from the other countries poor experience. They should scale down this year songkran, and not extending it.

Their explanation is "bringing happiness to the people", but it's risky proposal in face of ongoing infections. The last year there were less infections per day and there were many additional measures, like prohibition and ban on inter-provincial travel.

Now at risk might be an international tourism, if the the third wave would develop at the end of April
