Jonathan Fairfield
CHONBURI (NNT) - Koh Lan of Chonburi province has remained open to tourists but is observing strict health measures, assessing each arrival for symptoms of COVID-19. Authorities and volunteers on Koh Lan are screening all people arriving on the island, after Deputy Mayor of Pattaya Manoch Nongyai stated that no cases of COVID-19 have been detected at the destination. Screenings are taking place at Laem Bali Hai Pier and all docks leading to and from Koh Lan. Anyone found with a fever will be isolated for further assessment. In Phuket province, Chairman of the Phuket Tourism Business Association Phumkitti Raktaengam acknowledged that a number of cancellations have been made at Phuket hotels following the COVID-19 flare up in Bangkok. He remarked that three steps need to be taken. First is vaccinating as many people in Phuket as possible, second is promoting safety measures, such as mask wearing and social distancing, and third is for a plan to be drafted so that businesses can support government action and avoid major impacts. He urged visitors to Phuket to download and register with the Mor Chana application for their own safety. Public Health Officer of Phuket Dr. Kusak Kukriatikul thanked all locals who have sought COVID-19 vaccination, making it known that 60,000 people in the province received shots between April 1 and 8. April 10 will be the final day that vaccinations will provided, with 4,000 seats prepared at Saphan Hin gymnasium. Recipients must register at www.ภูเก็ตต้องชนะ.com and receive a confirmation SMS. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-04-11 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 1

Vaccines that provide little protection against the potent variant, but do give false security to people who will assume they are protected.
